GMHS Time Capsule
AVEC Time Capsule Blog Post

The Gorham Middle & High School had an addition completed in 1969 and for 50 years the cornerstone sat, holding up the building next to the main street entrance. There had been a rumor passed from generation to generation that behind that stone there was a time capsule left by the class of 1969. The school’s administration led by Principal, Jen Corrigan determined that on the 50th anniversary they would pry off the stone face and see what was hidden behind it. The rumor proved true and the time capsule was filled with a collection of interesting odds and ends from the Androscoggin Valley circa 1969 (visit the school’s library to see the collection)
The school has decided to leave another time capsule behind the cornerstone when it is returned to its original location. Over the last month, they have collected information that they feel will be of interest to the local community in 50 years. One of the collected items is a flyer from an AVEC event (pictured below). We don’t know how far we will go in 50 years. We are hopeful that when Valley residents of the future see the flyer it will remind them of all the cooperative efforts that have taken place since then as we are always stronger together.
