PARENT NEWSLETTER
February 2008
Dear Parents,
This
week we celebrate the 100th day of school! Hard to believe we are more than half way
through the school year. We have done so
much and still have so much more to do.
I
find myself thinking about several important things to discuss with you. First and foremost is the importance of
staying warm, healthy, and active. We
have several events happening this month---the springtime fundraiser, the Odd
Bodkins performance, and the Saladino Spaghetti fundraiser. Get out and enjoy socializing and having fun!
Speaking
of .getting out and having fun..please remind your children every single day to
wear the .FABULOUS 5.---hat, winter jacket, mittens, ski pants, and boots. After all, the groundhog never fibs---we have several weeks of winter ahead of us and we
will continue to enjoy the outdoors during these colder months.
If
you suddenly seem to be without that brand new hat or set of mittens Santa
brought at Christmas time, please check our .lost and found. shelves. Our lost and found seems to be overflowing
with clothing left behind from early morning arrival to the gym and recreation
department sporting events. Please take
some time to sort through the many items to see if you recognize anything---you
would be surprised to find some things that you didn.t even know were missing!
Something
else that you may have noticed is .missing. is all of the trophies from the
case down near the gymnasium. PLEASE do
not panic and do not jump to conclusions.
We have a couple of students working on cleaning out the display case
area. They will be sorting through the
trophies and removing those that are more than 10 years old.
In
the mean time, please enjoy the sign language display that Mrs. Tennis has put
together for us. Several primary level
classes have been incorporating sign language into their everyday lessons. Ask your child.I think you will be pleasantly
surprised how much they.ve learned!
Speaking
of .learning... The results are in from
the State assessments that students took back in October. We also recently completed a shortened
version of the MAPs testing to log students. midyear progress. At first glance it appears our students are
progressing well. I am so proud to say,
many of our students made great gains in their levels of performance. We expect to provide you with the State of NH
NECAP (assessment) data shortly.
As I
reflect upon the one hundred days that have so quickly passed us by, I wish you
all well and look forward to the remaining eighty days of school. Take care, stay warm and I hope to see you
all at one of the many upcoming events.
Sincerely,
Karen Cloutier
