III. Communications:
Mrs. Urso reported that Mr. & Mrs.
Ouellette have come up with a wonderful idea to
promote an improvement in
relationships/togetherness in the
family. Their idea was to have the students draw/color a picture
of their family eating a steak dinner.
A drawing
will be held at the end of each
month by picking out a student’s name.
This student
and his/her family would be awarded
a complete steak dinner paid for by Mr. & Mrs.
Ouellette.
Mrs. Urso informed the school board
that Mrs. Baillargeon is teaching sewing to four
of the Errol students at this time
through the 4-H Club. Mrs. Baillargeon
expressed
an interest in teaching this program
at least twice a month in the school.
Mrs. Urso
asked permission from the school
board to allow Mrs. Baillargeon to do
so. The school board members agreed that this was a great idea.
The principal brought up another fun
project for the students. Helen Donato,
a retired
employee of PSNH had approached Mrs. Urso with the idea of a
project in which the
parents and students could work
together. The project would involve
stenciling and painting
a map of the United States somewhere on the school pavement. The principal
pointed out that this would also be a good way to promote the paving of the driveway.
Theresa Choquette expressed her
concern over a few of the parents being upset over the
way the slide and the piano was
dispersed. Mrs. Choquette stated that
she had not taken
the piano yet as she did not want to
cause any hard feelings. After
discussing this issue,
it was decided that Mrs. Urso would
send a letter to parents asking if they were interested
in the piano. If so, they should
contact the school no later than Friday, October
3, 2003. At that time, names of
interested parties would be put in a hat and randomly
drawn to choose whom the piano would be given to. Mrs. Coffin reported that money
will be donated for the playground fund from the woman who took the slide.

IV. Superintendent’s
Report:
*NHSBA delegate and
resolutions-Mr. Welford reminded
the school board that NHSBA
is holding a delegate assembly on
November 15, 2003. The school board
members stated that they could
not attend due to each having other commitments.
*Financial
Report-The superintendent reported a fund balance of $78,405.43. The
large fund balance is due to lower
tuition than budgeted for and also for National Forest
Reserve revenues that were not
included in the budget. Mr. Welford
explained in
detail where NFR revenue came
from. The school board asked the superintendent
to give them a list of tuitioned
high school kids at the next meeting.
*Other-Mr.
Welford informed the school board the he accidentally found out that the
way the SAU board has been
constituted is illegal. The
superintendent explained that
under the RSA law the voting
representation allowed one vote for
school districts without an actual
school . School districts with schools
are allowed three voting school
members. Mr. Welford informed the Errol school board how the voting has been
done
in the past and how it should be
done in the future. He also explained what weighted voting meant. The
importance of getting reorganized before the SAU meeting on October 9, 2003 was stressed. The superintendent also stressed the
importance for the Errol school
board members to attend this meeting.
*Mr. Welford mentioned that the
Errol School has been qualified to receive money
from the Reading First grant.
V. Principal’s Report:
Mrs. Urso reported that the music teacher’s
position is still vacant. However,
music
will still be incorporated into the
classrooms until this position is filled.
The principal reported that the
summer projects are almost complete.
There was
no time to take care of the screens
this summer. Therefore, this project
will be
taken care of either this winter or in the fall.
Mrs. Urso reviewed the events
happening in the school in the upcoming months.
She also mentioned how much the new
playground was enjoyed by all.
