ERROL SCHOOL BOARD

MINUTES 10/20/2003

 

The Errol School Board met in regular session on Monday, October 20, 2003, at the Errol Consolidated School, Errol, NH.  Present:  Norman Eames, Gloria Coffin.  Also:

Steven Welford, Pauline Plourde, Kathleen Urso, Susan Enman (recording secretary).

Teachers present:  Sharon Lane, Mary Beauchesne, and Carol Tremblay.

 

I.          Call to Order:  Norman Eames called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m.

 

II.        Approval of September 25, 2003 minutes:

 

                        Motion by Gloria Coffin – Seconded by Norman Eames

                        MOTION: to accept the meeting minutes of 09/25/2003 as read

                        Vote on motion:  All in favor

 

III.       Communications:

            Mrs. Coffin asked if the situation pertaining to the pianos had been resolved. 

            Mrs. Urso informed the school board that a notice about donating the pianos

            was  sent to parents.  However, the only response received was from Mrs.

            Choquette.   Mr. Eames reported that someone had contacted him about taking

            the other piano. 

 

IV.       Superintentdent’s Report: 

            *Financial-Pauline handed out a tuition list of Errol students.  The school board

            questioned if a  couple of students should still be on the list.  Mrs. Plourde stated that she             would look into this matter.

           

            Mrs. Plourde reported a fund balance of $28,562.00.   The Business Administrator noted that there were no preschoolers at this time and that the tuition amount would change            due to two students moving out of the district.

           

            Mrs. Plourde reminded the school board members that there was money in dues

            and fees account  available for workshops they might be interested in.

 

            Mrs. Plourde stated that the final audit report would be available at the next

            school board meeting.  She also informed the school board that there would be a line        item added to next year’s budget for GASB 34.  A discussion on what GASB 34 was all

            about was held.

           

            The Business Administrator reported that there would probably be a decrease in   

            the tax rate on the school side next year.

 

            *Other:

            Mr. Welford reminded the school board that the SAU school board meeting will

            be held November 6, 2003, at the Milan Village School, at 7:00 p.m.  The  SAU budget     would be discussed at this meeting.  The Superintendent informed the school board that          the public hearing on the SAU budget will be held on December 04, 2003, at 7:00 p.m., at the Milan Village School.  Mr. Welford stated that the Deputy Commissioner would be             present at this meeting to discuss issues pertaining to “No Child Left Behind”.  There       will also be Superintendents from other areas at this meeting.

 

IV.       Principal’s Report:

            Mrs. Urso reported many were  activities going on in school.  Field trips were reviewed.  A stock market class was started today.

 

            The Principal informed the school board that the new stairs to the attic were in

            place and work wonderfully.   The Principal asked the school board for advice on

            what they would like her to do with the aluminum vent from the kitchen.  It was

            decided to dispose of the vent.

 

            Mrs. Urso reviewed how the school personnel and students dealt with losing

            electricity the other day.  Mr. Eames and Mrs. Coffin informed Mrs. Urso that

            the wiring for the generator was not complete at this time.  Mrs. Plourde

            stated that she had received a report on how well the school handled this

            situation.   A discussion was held on what to do as far as the phone goes if a

            situation like this occurs again. 

 

            The Principal reported that the students had sent packages to two servicemen. 

            The money to put the packages together came from a bake sale held, in which,

            $222.35 was raised.

 

VI.       Public Comments/Other:  None at this time.

 

VII.     Next meeting: 

            The next Errol School Board meeting will be held on Monday, November 17,

            2003, at 7:00 p.m., at the Errol Consolidated School, Errol, NH.

                        MOTION:  to adjourn the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
